The book covers the contribution of Western Armenians in various spheres of life of the Ottoman Empire; diplomatic, palatial, administrative, judicial life; in the army, in the banking and insurance systems; science, architecture, urban planning, commerce, fine arts, medicine, economics, culture, crafts, music and sports. A focus of research is on activities and the importance of class of amirs, a significant contribution of the Armenian intelligentsia as a conductor of European ideas in the Ottoman Empire. Printing and publishing, Armenian-letter Turkish literature had a direct impact on the establishment and development of new Turkish literature, its educators, literary Turkish language, theater, drama and journalism.
The monograph is devoted to the 550th anniversary of the Armenian Patriarchate of Turkey (1461-2011), whose huge role in the history of Western Armenians can hardly be overestimated, as it is impossible to imagine the fate of the Western Armenians without the Armenian Patriarchate of Turkey.
